Sam Tudor / Kirsten Ludwig

Duncan Showroom, 131 Station Street, Duncan BC

SAM TUDOR Tudor grew up at a forest research station, developing an affinity for both plants and outdated technology in the process. His 2014 album “The Modern New Year” was a campus radio hit and earned him a cult following across the country. Soon after, Sam began playing with a stellar live band and their album Quotidian Dream was released in September 2017 to critical acclaim in Western Canada and beyond. The Georgia Straight called it “a gem... with a penchant for everything left field” while Beatroute magazine describes it as “beautifully self aware, sonically interesting, and masterful.” Sam is a poignant, clear songwriter with experimental leanings that he proudly wears on his sleeve.

KIRSTEN LUDWIG We Get It Now’, Kirsten Ludwig's third release, is an infusion of dream-pop, haunt-folk, and Canadiana; with its low-key atmosphere, thoughtful arrangements, and honest sound guiding the way. With influences like Beach House, Laura Marling, and Sharon Van Etten, Ludwig set out to produce a record - alongside Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, Black Mountain, Sleepy Sun) - with strong melodic structures, catchy hooks, and soaring dynamic soundscapes. ‘We Get It Now’ is anchored by themes of loss, grief, fleeting optimism, and residual anger. $15 door $12 advance

Medderick and The Jokers and Prophets Band

Duncan Showroom, 131 Station Street, Duncan BC

a group that in the main features songs written by lead vocalist Medderick and back up vocalist Steve Gidora. However, Steve and the other two vocalists, the Jans (Janet Iggulden and Janice Sentell) step out and sing a few classic covers, but not your top 40, well maybe, depending on your point of view. This vocal extravaganza encompasses a rich and eclectic accompaniment provided by Medderick on acoustic and electric guitars, Steve on bass, mandolin, Irish bazouki and acoustic guitar and Wayne Iggulden on all manner of keyboards including accordion and harmonica.
